Sato Takeru Playing a Young Soldier in a New Tradgedy End of War Commemoration Drama Documentary

The young popular actor Sato Takeru will be starring in Fuji TV's end of war commemoration drama documentary "The last bond ~ Okinawa the torn apart brothers~" (tentative title) which will air on August 13th from 9PM.
This is Sato Takeru's first war drama. The story is set during the Battle of Okinawa which took place towards the end of the Pacific War. It portraits the tragic story of two brothers as they get split up; one fighting for USA and the other for Japan making them enemies in war.

Takeru will play the role of a young soldier who was drafted into the famous troop "Tekketsu Kinnoutai" consisting of students in the ages between 14-17 (that in English is known as "Blood and Iron Student Corps").

"Before this role I had no idea what the "Blood and Iron Student Corps" was or what happened in the Okinawa war" says Sato Takeru, who to prepare for this role went to the History Museum in Itoman City, Okinawa. There he saw war pictures of the young children carrying weapons which he said was really chocking. He spent about half a month shooting in Okinawa and was also quoted saying "I want the young people of today to know about the tragical history that is very close to our own generation and period".
